A California woman has given birth to octuplets! Two physicians headed the delivery of the eight babies by Caesarian section, it was confirmed today. The babies — six boys and two girls — were born between 10:43 a.m. and 10:48 a.m. They weighed between 1 lb 15 oz and 3 lbs 4 oz.

Forty-six people helped with the delivery which was planned well in advance. The doctors and hospital staff involved did two dry runs to prepare for the delivery. Things went flawlessly even though only seven babies were expected.

An 8-year old boy in Michigan lived with his mother’s dead body for 10 days. He survived by eating dried rice, butter and flour. A vigilant shopkeeper, concerned that the boy has been coming to the store by himself, quizzed him about his mom. The boy said his mom was “in a better place.”

May this video remind us parent that our children must be taught what to do in case of emergencies.

Jilted Wife Sells Hubby’s Lover’s Panties on Ebay

Up for bidding recently on eBay were a pair of black lacy panties described as “size humongous” and an empty packet of condom “size small”. The seller says of the panties: “They are so huge I thought they may make someone a nice shawl, or even better, something for Halloween perhaps.”

The scorned wife says she came home and found her husband of 22 years “acting suspiciously” and tried to prevent her from going to their bedroom, where the lover’s panties were still on the foot of the bed, and the condom packet under his pillow.

The wife promised that his Harley will be up for bidding next, beginning at $0.99 with no reserve.

Oh, if only breakups were as amiable as Simon and Terri’s!

Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour have split up, reportedly due to Simon’s unwillingness to get married and have a family. They were together for six years. Simon may have left Terri broken-hearted, but he did not leave her broke: he gave him $5 million in cash and a home worth $4.6 million. That’s a lot of retail therapy!

90-Year Old Attempts Suicide Over Foreclosure

Addie Polk, a 90-year old Ohio woman, attempted to kill herself with a gun as local deputies were arriving to evict her from her home. Bloggers are calling her “the face of the crisis“, embodying not just financial hardship but also lack of financial guidance.

Ms. Polk has lived in her home for around 38 years, according to neighbors. The mortgage was paid off in 1982. She had since re-mortgaged her home three times since 1997 to ease financial burdens. What would probably helped her is a reverse mortgage to allow her access to her home equity without having to make monthly payments. Those lenders that have given her a mortgage since 1997 should have explored other options for Ms. Polk to consider based on her age. Her last mortgage was with Countrywide in 2004, the mortgage company that had become infamous in recent times for its mortgage practices.

The people of Akron, Ohio have rallied behind Ms. Polk, including the OH Congressman Dennis Kucinich. A Fannie Mae spokesperson has also said that Ms. Polk’s mortgage has been forgiven. Ms. Polk is in critical condition at the Akron General Medical Center.

Man in Wheelchair Robs 7-11 of Condoms

A wheelchair-bound man wheeled into a Dallas 7-11. Armed with a knife and a baseball bat, he went straight for the cash register and smashed it until it opened. However, he must have had more important things to do. Instead of taking cash out of the register, he grabbed 10 boxes of condoms and an energy drink before rolling on out of there.

Now there’s a man with clearly-defined priorities in life!

Fatal Shooting Over Fast Food Fight

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Decora Jenkins was shot dead by a friend over a fast food dispute. She was 18. Ms. Jenkins, her 20-year old boyfriend, and a 28-year old female friend had just gotten some food from Rally’s. The female friend and the boyfriend argued and wrestled over the food, which resulted in the female friend grabbing a gun and firing at the boyfriend. She missed and hit Decora Jenkins instead.

A neighbor, who was with the three hours earlier at a block party commented, “It is very heartbreaking. All this came about over a hamburger. It’s a terrible situation.”

Two Rally’s hamburger wrappers were found in front of the home, attacked by a swarm of ants.

A Wisconsin couple each won $350,000 twice, for last Saturday’s lottery drawing. All four tickets were purchased at different locations, but used the same numbers, and for the same drawing. The total winnings amount to $1.4 million. How did they do it?

Verlyn Adamson, the husband, is an accountant with a love for big math puzzles. He claims that he has found the formula for picking the winning lottery numbers. Mr. Adamson is said to be exploring a patent protection on his lottery pick equation.

Ten Reasons Why A Man Carries A Bag of Cash on His Motorcycle

A motorcyclist carrying a bag of cash near LA drops the bag out on the busy freeway. Motorists stop to grab fluttering bills, ignoring danger. Who carries a bag of cash on a motorcycle ??? I cannot help but think that this bag of cash was a result of or was meant to be involved in some illegal thing, like a drug buy, payoff or a bribe.

All seriousness aside, here are ten possible reasons why a guy would be carrying a bag of cash on a motorcycle on the freeway:

1. He is ugly and he needed to get laid.

2. He needed more white socks for his sandals this summer.

3. He was on his way to buy Galaxy tickets to see David Beckham up close.

4. His tithe to the Church of Scientology was overdue.

5. He was hosting a barbeque that weekend and needed to buy meat.

6. He was on his way to an auction for a date with Megan Fox.

7. He was meeting Al Gore to try to offset his carbon footprint.

8. The money was for PETA, so they would leave him and his leather jacket alone.

9. It was Perez Hilton, always keeping cash on hand in exchange for insider info.

Mom of UK’s Fattest Teen: We Could Not Afford Healthy Food!

Lesley Davis fed her baby condensed milk, and all sorts of unhealthy food throughout her daughter’s life. Now her teen Georgia Davis is the “fattest in all of Britain”. Lesley’s excuse for letting her daughter’s weight get so out of hand? She was unemployed and broke.

I grew up in another country where labor was cheap. We had a live-in maid and a laundrywoman (I do miss those days!) Our laundrywoman Lina had a grade school education, was married to a laborer who drank and gambled, and they had three kids. When Lina’s youngest child was old enough to be weaned from breastfeeding, the child sometimes literally had sugared water in her bottle. Later on, I knew they sometimes only had rice sprinkled with salt for dinner.

Lina’s child, unlike Lesley’s child Georgia, grew up to be healthy and of average weight. I think the main difference between these two mothers is this: while Lesley coped with poverty by comfort eating with her daughter, Lina was busy doing odd jobs here and there with her own daughter.
